From June 6th to 7th, the 7th International Postgraduate Seminar on Refractories was successfully held. The seminar is supported by Joint International Research Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy, Ministry of Education, The State Key Laboratory of Refractory and Metallurgy, National-provincial Joint Engineering Research Center of High Temperature Materials and Lining Technology of Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Since the 2022, it has a presidium composed of 8 professors from 7 countries, including China, Austria, Germany, France, Brazil, Poland and South Korea. The secretariat is fixed in Wuhan University of Science and Technology. Professor Yawei Li of Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China, is the rotating chair of the seventh seminar. The seminar was a combination of online and offline. More than 200 experts and scholars from from universities and enterprises in 9 countries, China, Austria, Germany, Brazil, Poland and India, participated in the seminar.

On June 6, the opening ceremony of the seminar was held in Room 1004 of Iron and Steel Building. Prof. Tao Feng, Dean of Postgraduate Department, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Luping Fu , Deputy Director of The Materials Science Department delivered opening speeches respectively. Prof. Yawei Li, Director of the Joint International Research Laboratory of Refractories and Metallurgy, Ministry of Education, Prof. Gengwei Yang, Deputy Director of The Materials Science Department, Prof. Wen Yan, Prof. Hao Liu, Prof. Yan Ma, Associate Prof. Yajie Dai, Associate Prof. Zhong Huang, Associate Prof. Junfeng Chen, etc., and about 60 postgraduates from the Department of Materials participated in the opening ceremony, and the number of online attendees reached around 200 people.

In this seminar, Dr. Patrick Gehre, Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany, Dr. Ilona Jastrzębska, AGH University of Krakow, Poland, Dr. Sandra Vollmann, Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, Dr. Hong Peng, Elkem Silicon Materials, Norway, Dr. Zhong Huang, and Dr. Ning Liao, Wuhan University of Science and Technology, were the chairpersons of the six sessions and selected the best oral presentations. Thirteen postgraduate from Montanuniversität Leoben, Austria, Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany, Federal University of São Carlos, Brazil, National Institute of Technology, India, Seoul National University, South Korea, University of Limoges, France, and ten postgraduate from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, Nanchang Hangkong University, Zhengzhou University, Shanghai University, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology, Henan University of Science and Technology, Luoyang Institute of Science and Technology, made a total of 23 brilliant oral presentations.The presentation covered the research work on, refractory design and performance regulation, numerical computational simulation, and refractory-alloy-melt interaction.
The closing ceremony was held on June 7. Prof. Yawei Li, the rotating chairman, made a closing speech and announced the six best oral presentations. After the resolution of the Bureau of the seminar, Prof. Yawei Li announced that the 8th International Refractories Postgraduate seminar in 2025 will be held by Prof. Patrick Gehre of Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg, Germany, who firstly congratulated on the successful holding of this seminar, announced the plan of the next year's meeting, expressed his gratitude to the organizers, the conference organizers and all participants for their hard work, and looked forward to the success of next year's seminar..
